Our firm maintains a modest, talented team, which allows our principle and founder to position himself individually with each current project under development by our staff at any given time.
MICHAEL D. KNISELY
PRESIDENT / PRINCIPLE ARCHITECT
Michael D. Knisely First registered to practice architecture in 1987, Michael continued to gain experience in retail and educational design, supportive and independent senior housing, assisted living communities, urban design, and industrial facilities. He began the firm of Distyle Design Architects in 1999 on a foundation of strong client relationships, and is currently registered in 30 states, helping Distyle's clients wherever they choose to plan, develop, and build. Michael is a graduate of Lawrence Technological University and University of Washington.
DARREN L. KILKER
SENIOR TECHNICAL DESIGNER
Darren has been involved with construction since he was old enough to hold a hammer, working with his dad on home construction and remodeling. He served in the United State Air Force as a medical technician for 4 years and as an engineering specialist for 6 years. Darren’s design experience is extensive, including retail, housing, schools, and commercial developments. Darren has been with Distyle Design Architects for 16 years as Sr Technical Designer and BIM manager, known around the office as ‘the CAD guru’.
JONATHAN P. CLAY
ASSOCIATE DESIGNER
With an extensive background in fine arts and design, Jonathan focused his academic work on how architecture, buildings and sites address larger societal, infrastructural, and ecological needs. Jonathan received a Bachelor of Art from Saint John’s University, a Master of Architecture from the University of Minnesota, and is currently working towards licensure. Outside the office, Jonathan works as a ceramic artist, a skill he’s refined over 16 years.
COLIN T. GREY
OFFICE MANAGER
Colin earned a bachelor’s degree in Creative Writing and quickly put that skill to use writing office emails. Since 2015, he has handled all the daily office tasks that keep Distyle Design Architects running smoothly. When not in the office, Colin spends his time in his hobbies of writing and miniature painting.
